zchocolat

Z Chocolat would probably be my next recommendation as the ideal gift for that loved one. Specially 100% made in France, these chocolates are made by World Champion Chocolatier & Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Pascal Caffet. While the usual gourmet variety of chocolates are commonly found in the mall, these are available on the net and delivered worldwide at your convenience in an artisan packaging that leaves one subtly impressed by its quality from start to end. I was very touched with an engravement of my name onto the box, making this a very personalised gift. It just leaves one with the impression that although the chocolates might be delectably consumed over time, the memories remain forever.

The package arrived via DHL in a silver box that is described as the “Summer Packaging” which guarantees the chocolate arriving in a perfect condition. Remove everything and discover a simple, yet exquisite black cloth bag.

Removing the packaging, I was awestruck by the design of the box. A beautiful deep brown with gold trimmings around – this is the Ruby box (US$141.49) and part of the Mahogany Collection. Each box is also unique and stamped with a serial number.

My name engraved on the front metal plate. The chocolates encased within by the Z emblem clasp. It just reminds me of a treasure box from the days gone by, hiding the gems from prying eyes.

The chocolates I received were part of the “Numbered Chocolates” line. 26 varieties in total, all created by Pascal Caffet, these chocolates are a mix of dark, milk or white chocolate that carry the best French butter and cream, mixed with pralines, Valencia almonds and Piedmont hazelnuts.

I tried the Dark, White and Milk Z Chocolates in addition to numbers 0, 4, and 8 in no particular order. With an assortment of 30 chocolates for the picking, I simply had to close my eyes and take whatever my hands landed on. Let me give some short snippets of the product description for the particular chocolates I had.

Milk Z Chocolate – 40% Ivory Coast milk chocolate couverture encasing a duo of a lush caramel and crunchy praliné: the caramel is sweet
and salty with Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar, the praliné is composed from slow-roasted Piedmont hazelnuts

Chocolate n°8 – An inspired combination of finely ground caramelized hazelnuts from the Piedmont region of Italy, phyllo dough, an unctuous coffee ganache fashioned from Kenyan coffee and Maragogype coffee beans from Nicaragua (covered in a 70% Venezuelan dark chocolate).

As I went through the product description for each specific chocolate, I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of detail and ingredients that actually went into it. However, as I only read the descriptions after trying the chocolate, that experience alone gave me turns of surprises of what chocolate that might be. It was like moments of new discoveries, all encapsulated in bite size pieces. Sweet, creamy, nutty, buttery, each piece is unique on its own. Fine chocolates like these, in personalised services to almost any place all over the world, now this is an experience for that night to remember.
