A bakery shop with a difference. One filled with rustic sourdough breads and freshly made kraftkorn sandwiches. Founded by the Swiss Xavier Baumgartner, himself a Pastry Chef for over three decades, Swissbake is the bake shop which I could and will love. And with the style and atmosphere apart from the traditional Asian bakery one would see in Singapore, this is one with a European touch.
Swissbake is now part of Marina Bay Link Mall. Having opened on the 16th of November, this outlet looks set to cater to the office crowd and even those who wish to entertain their clients with some crisp savoury sandwich classics. Pair that with the steaming mug of Hot Chocolate ($4.20) which is smooth and creamy topped with a good dose of froth to create that airy sip.
I was strongly recommended to try out the Smoked Salmon Kraftkorn Sandwich ($8.50). Articulated with layers of chunky smoked salmon, cream cheese, lettuce, capers on meculin salad between slices of toasted Kraftkorn bread, the blend is a savoury sweet delight with a crispy crunch. It was akin to having slices of smoked salmon between a fragrant nutty biscuit, one that charms up the senses. Delish!
The outlet was having a set promotion and for one coffee/tea, soup and sandwich, it will only cost $13.50. And the soup for the day was the Cream of Mushroom. Served thick with coarse chunky mushroom pieces, the soup was creamy and well seasoned to bring out the essence of the fungi. Topped with crisp croutons, this was one good bowl of creamy mushroom.
Simply delightful. Swissbake, your cup of hot chocolate?
