Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort Silver Shell Cafe returns with an exciting deal come each Wednesday with a delectable spread of meats to tantalize the ravenous appetites of all guests. The Meet the Meat fiesta features some of the finest Slow-Roast Tomahawk Veal, Grilled German Sausages and Roast Beef Tenderloin, all in addition to the existing spread of seafood, roast meats, staples, salads and desserts galore. Plus with the restaurant’s location at the exquisite Shangri-La off on Sentosa island, dinner here is a getaway from the usual fare of dine and ambience in the city.
The meat counter is strategically located just behind the restaurant’s reception area to give incoming guests that first sight at the spread available. With the impressive meats out for display, it was almost too easy not to get caught up in excitement.
The herbed Australian Lamb Racks were some of the loveliest I’ve tasted. Gritty and well spiced on the outside, a smooth medium rare on the inside, it was a pleasure cutting into the meat.
Top it with some mint sauce for that extra kick and grassy flavour to pair with slight gamey overall taste.
The Roast Tomahawk Veal was also superb. Tender, with that sublime intensity from the meat, the roast goes excellently with a dollop of whipped potatoes and slow roasted vegetables. I might suggest accompanying the portion with some Baked Beef Lasagna to really even things out in full umami brightness.
The station also served Roast Chicken stuffed with all grain, and I don’t really recall why I didn’t try out this dish. Must have been too full from all the meats. Looks fabulous with the corn and asparagus by the side though.
Still, it was hard not to take notice of the volumous spread of Grilled German Sausages placed next to the pieces of Roasted Pork Knuckle.
The chef delicately sliced off pieces of crispy pork skin with just a little layer of meat to give a varying contrast between both crispiness and an meatiness. The first bite, and it crackles under pressure. Then moving on to the pieces of halved sausages, it was pure heaven to slowly enjoy each portion. It becomes bliss when you bite into the pieces of fat within the sausage as the sudden burst in flavour surprises you in an instant. Though do take note that the sausages can be a tad oily, and I really had to wash things down with a good serving of orange juice.
The buffet does not stop there though, and if you wander further, you could even chance upon chilli crabs. Looks very appetizing though for me, I was more happy visually enjoying the spread.

Yam Ring with seafood – I had to put this picture up as it was the first time I saw the remains of the dish with only the yam ring left. Perhaps it would be a good thing to place a little sign at the counter, indicating that the yam is to be enjoyed with the seafood.
End of dinner with a selection of desserts from the sweet tooth counter. The cakes at Shangri-La are really good, and it would be a real treat to enjoy each piece. Although I do have to admit that the presentation for the desserts could be better envisioned (they might want to replace the sushi counter lookalike refrigerator with something more elegant).
Be entertained with the moving live band performance!

Meet the Meat fiesta at the Silver Shell Cafe is available every Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm. The selection of game is fine, with excellent recommendations for the lamb and veal. It would perhaps be great if the entire buffet spread could up its level a notch or two, more in the presentation department to really let guests go “wow”. With an already great ambience to begin with, dining here would be a treat for that nightly getaway.
Thank you Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa for the invitation.
