Sarang, Korea’s Love Comes to Orchard Central


The newest addition to Orchard Central comes in the form of love. Sarang, aptly set to immerse diners with a show kitchen, outdoor bar, magnificent view of the city and a team of 8 Korean chefs, aims to replicate the youthful Seoul setting for all.

Yesterday’s media event highlight at Sarang was the food photography workshop organized by Orchard Central and conducted by Dr. Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost. Basics of food photography like lighting, composition, depth of field and all so popular one third rule were discussed.

Sampling portions were served around but I didn’t eat them all (Was too engaged taking photographs and sharing some ideas with Leslie – Very rare to get such excellent natural lighting as well). And before I knew it, I was one of the last few left. And as for now, let’s imagine the taste of the dishes by looking at my pictures! Sarang Japchae (Sarang Japchae) – Stir Fried Vegetable Vermicelli tossed in Sesame Oil


Drunken Pork (Yangnyeom Samgyeop Gui) – Grilled, Wine Marinated Pork Belly served with Kimchi on a sizzling hot plate


Godfather (Gochujang Steak) – Grilled beef steak with Chef’s special spicy sauce


Army Stew (Budae Jjigae) – Kimchi, Sausage, Spam and Pork served in Seoul’s favourite hotpot!


Godmother (Yangneom Steak) – Grilled Beef Steak marinated in Chef’s special fruit sauce


Sun and Moon (Kimchi Bokeum Bap) – Kimchi Fried Rice with a Sunny side up.
