Laze. Indulge. Melt. Enjoy. – The Sunday Champagne Brunch Buffet at PARKROYAL on Pickering!

I am impressed by the architecture at PARKROYAL on Pickering. The smooth, wavy flows of the building seemingly blends in very well into the district, yet retaining a sense of magnificence that increases its standards just upon first impression. With room newly launched just 5 months ago, the hotel’s flagship restaurant Lime is proud to begin its latest Sunday Brunch with Champagne to all brunch lovers looking for a exquisite getaway in the heart of the city, this month onwards. The Sunday brunch comes with the option of free flow Piper Heidsieck Champagne and a selection of red and white wines in addition to delights such as Foie Gras, Herb Crusted Cod Fillet, Braised Beef Cheek and an extensive selection of salads and desserts.

I was meant to drop by earlier for a visit with my dad for fathers’ day, but alas it was never meant to be. Still, before I began this article with delectable pictures to tempt your tastebuds, I wish all dads out there a Happy Belated Fathers’ Day! And perhaps even make this brunch another reason to celebrate with the family.

Simple, yet elegant architecture

Upon stepping into Lime, all diners will be greeted with the dessert selections and cheeses spread lovingly on the impressive wooden dining table-counter. The array of colours, with focused tones on green and brown blend in perfectly with the surrounding Hong Lim park. The restaurant’s ceiling high windows allow in soothing light to brighten the environment, leaving touches of comfort that go beyond the confines of the restaurant.

For $128++, diners will get to enjoy a delicate champagne of Piper-Heidsieck to fizz up the day. If you manage to get the table with sofas seats, this would be an almost perfect way to laze about the entire afternoon away, while indulging in some delectable dishes.

The Seared Foie Gras with Passion Fruit Sauce was a delight on its own. While the crisp yet fatty liver stood its own ground with flavourful buttery textures, the complement of tangy passion fruit cut through all the flavours, refreshing the palate for the next bite. Let the foie gras melt, frolick in its flavour, then touch up with citrusy tartness.

The Smoked Salmon with Poached Egg, Truffle Hollandaise Sauce and Rosti could have been better. The poached egg was not runny, and the rosti was a little too flat. While I did enjoy the truffle hollandaise sauce, I thought that maybe some surprising sour cream just under the rosti might meaten flavours a little.

The cold cuts array was pretty decent, and I was quite surprised to find grilled smoked eggplants. An absolute favourite.

One of the many highlights to look out for is the Braised Beef Cheek. The meat is exceptionally tender, with excellent flavours infused into the braising sauce. Almost collagen rich, the sauce complemented the chunky pieces of meat in notes of savoury, musky red and a tinge of sweetness at the end.

The other notable choice is the Stir Fried Chicken in Special “A” Sauce. Sweet, slightly sticky, and well coated around crisp chunks of tender chicken pieces, this dish would go exceptionally well with steamed white rice. I went back for more!

Braised Pork Belly

The Herb Crusted Cod really surprised me. While I had a measured set of expectations already set for all things cod, the slight crispness and embracement of scented aromatics gently masked the slightly oily fragrance of cod, elevating the dish further.

Freshly baked pizza. Light and soft to the lift.

Some Sauvignon Blanc to add a soothing twist for desserts

The Sunday Brunch features 12 different kinds of cheeses, and I was happy to go through each of them. Go through the Comte, Tomme de Savoie and Brie de Mieux alongside some wine or champagne to wind down the meal.

The Sunday Brunch at Lime, PARKROYAL on Pickering offers up a sumptuous spread of quality selections. The spread is made even more impressive with the elegant ambience of the restaurant, especially the comfy sofas and beautiful warm light cascading in from the outside. The dining experience is intimate, and I was almost tempted to while the day away, lounging past the buffet closing time. The brunch is definitely not for the food alone but as an entire package, well complemented with its vicinity to the nearby Chinatown or Clarke Quay areas for a little recreational shopping just a walk away. And for those looking for a stay at the hotel, I think it should be an exquisite experience all on its own.

Thank you PARKROYAL on Pickering for the invitation.
