My family definitely has strong craves and urges for anything crab like and coated with salted egg yolk. On the other hand, I am rather partial to the hardy crustacean as I cannot fathom the luxury of scraping past the shells for the treasured meat. So the largest differentiating factor for me, other than looking at how fresh the crab is, is actually the sauce that comes along with it.
I travelled all the way to Choa Chu Kang, near the Keat Hong estate just to visit The Crab Specialist and ta-pao a serving of Salted Egg Yolk crab home.
The Crab Specialist sure did the Salted Egg Yolk crabs up right. When I opened the box to conduct a random “sniff check”, boy was I impressed with the strong yet tender whiff of creamy salted egg yolk.
For $36, it is a bit expensive, but when it comes to the cooking style, it is definitely something I would go for. Now, the final verdict would be to dine at the place itself. Oh when can I go back again. Come on, somebody get a crave!
