For a limited time only, Crystal Jade Prestige at the Marina Bay Financial Centre will feature its Signature Weekend Brunch set priced at $58++ per person or at $98++ per person with free flow Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne. With the final weekend of the promotion set to take place on the 19th, 25th and 26th June, guests can indulge in a customized brunch menu by picking 10 items across 5 different categories.
From the Dim Sum categories, select five options for the table ranging from items such as the tantalizing and nutritious Steamed Dumpling with Shrimp & Black Garlic to the homely Poached Beancurd Skin rolled with Prawn in Superior Broth.
Guests seeking a crusty pastry with a warm, sweet savoury richness within will be delighted to find the Baked Abalone & Diced Chicken Pastry is up on the menu.
In the appetizer section, choose 1 item out of 4. I strongly recommend the Deep-fried Cod Fish Cube with Passionfruit Sauce as its bold, flavours leave a memorable impression after the first bite. Those looking for something more traditional for mum and dad can also opt for the Chilled Pig’s Ear or the Deep-fried Eggplant with Pork Floss.
For Roasts, choose 1 out of 3 possible items. We went for the Crispy Pork Belly – always a favourite.
In the Soup category, choose 1 out of a possible 3. We had the Chef’s Special Soup of the Day which a double-boiled chicken broth. I especially loved Cantonese style soups for their warm, intense flavour that will leave you craving for more.
The Wok-Fried Dish category was one section where Crystal Jade Prestige’s specialty dishes come to fore. Choose 1 from a selection of 5 and indulge in items such as the Simmered Fillet of Garoupa with Egg White and Sake to the Crispy Chicken with Foie Gras (pate) and Mango. End off the entire meal with a round of desserts such as the Chilled Mango Puree with Pomelo and Sago.

However, it became quickly apparent that as the dishes arrived on the table, it was not a brunch set that would leave guests satisfied. Although the choice of 10 dishes across 5 categories may seem like a hefty meal, I strongly recommend order at least 2 additional dishes for a more thorough meal.
For starters, I ordered the Chilled Pig’s Ear ($12.80++ to share). A wonderful delicacy that deserves its own mention, I never thought I would enjoy tucking into gelatinous crunchy sheets of pig’s ear served alongside a tangy dipping sauce. Wonderful!
The Deep-Fried Soft Shell Crab with Pork Floss ($14.80++ to share) was also another winner in my books. The crab was crispy yet tender, fresh and sweet. I enjoyed the textural contrasts and the playful addition of pork floss which lent an umami savoury kick to the entire dish.
Combination of Pan-fried Foie Gras and Sauteed Carrot Cake in XO Sauce ($18++ per person)
Compliments must go to the chef for this creation of Pan-fried Beancurd with Black Truffle Sauce ($8.80++ per person). While the Black Truffle Sauce was more of a fanciful creation, I thoroughly enjoyed the freshly made tofu prepared daily. It was exquisitely fried to give a crisp outer coat, only to reveal a wobbly custard interior on the first bite. Beautiful!
In all, the Crystal Jade Prestige Signature Weekend Brunch is a decent introduction to the classic delights which the restaurant has to offer. However, for the price that you pay, it is also a watered down version from the more exquisite menu available. I thoroughly enjoyed the a la carte dishes that I ordered and would highly recommend giving in to a few for a more complete dining experience. Because of this, Crystal Jade Prestige has to do a lot more to uplift its Signature Weekend Brunch even if it means a price increase.
