Gourmet News: Celebrate Life in Pink at Kwee Zeen’s Saturday Pink Brunch Buffet!

Saturdays has taken on a whole new twist with Kwee Zeen’s pink brunch theme. While the regular Sunday Champagne Brunch Buffet still goes on, guests now have an additional reason to celebrate on day 6 of the week. Specially crafted “pink” highlights adorn the largely Mediterranean-themed buffet line up all the way from appetizers to desserts. On top of it all, indulge in glasses of Domaine Ott Rose wines and relish in the moment. And if there is space, look out for some of those specially handcrafted chocolate truffles, you will definitely find them worthy of the calories.

In terms of the usual gastronomic brunch buffet fare, Sundays are a much better choice. The range of dishes at the Saturday Pink Brunch Buffet would almost give the impression of a select, quality spread. There was no regular foie gras station or even a more extensive range of seafood. And while understandably the restaurant is Mediterranean-themed, brunch staples such as an egg or pancake station would have been exciting.

Still, items such as the Gammon Ham with Rhubarb Sauce and the Prawn Penne with Pink Vodka Sauce are new, and I must admit that the dishes were well thought out and tastefully presented. I enjoyed the cooked food section in general, and found the pink pilaf with raisins particularly sweet, savoury and well-seasoned.

The roasted meats were also generally good, and the cheese selection, impressive as usual.

However, at day’s end, the pink theme was but a novelty that quickly wore through. What is a plus though is that all brunch guests can partake in the resort’s 33-metre pool just outside the restaurant – a fantastic way to kick start some R&R during the weekend.

Kwee Zeen’s Saturday Pink Brunch is available every Saturday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. It is a decent attempt to liven the Saturday brunches, but it could do with well a lot more variety and excitement to make it a memorable journey across the bridge to Sentosa.

Thank you Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa for the invitation.
