The humongous Moo Moo II Burger ($12.90) – Juicy, succulent and definitely meaty!

Vittles opened in 2007 in a little suburban area at Sembawang Cottage. Serving up a concoction and variety of Western, Italian and fusion food, it is a homely establishment that will grab your attention for its very affordable and delicious dishes.

The Moo Moo II Burger and the Pistachio Herb Crusted Lamb Rack was recommended to me as being the House’s specialties.


For starters, I had the soup special for the day – Mushroom soup. Now this is wholly hand made with it being creamy, savoury, and the best parts were the chunky bits of mushrooms in it. The whiff of mushrooms smothered with a hint of butter emanating from the soup was enough to whet my appetite till my stomach growled.


While waiting, I also had a serving of nachos with melted cheese and salsa as dips. Burp, I wiped the plate clean and literally licked the bowls =)


The Moo Moo II Burger arrived humongous. I had mine done medium-rare and trust me when they say its meaty, its really meaty. The patty was hand chopped and very well seasoned and salted giving rise to a burst of the full flavour of beef. The topping of mushrooms were exceptional, adding a smoky and almost deliciously woody texture to the burger. Pair it off with crispy bacon and a generous portion of melted cheese, Oooo Lala =)


Pistachio Herb Crusted Lamb Rack – gimme more! (Reduced price of $19.90)

I am impressed by the way the Pistachio Herb Crusted Lamb Rack was whipped up. The lamb racks I’ve had elsewhere did not come crispy with the scent of herbs and nuts on the outside. Vittle’s original recipe was very nicely done. The lamb itself did not carry too strong a scent and once enveloped with the sauce (which I suspect is made of mushrooms and pepper), you have a mouth-watering meal. Though one thing for certain, I discerned a little too much salt in the meat itself which could be improved.


One side dish to highlight is the Gratinated Potatoes. Loved it, enjoyed it. It reminded me of the same potato dish I made years ago where I cut layers of it and placed it in a pan, topping it off with cheese and baking it. Just loved it.


J2K3 Award Winner : Durian Mousse

For dessert, the Durian Mousse ($6.90) was served. Vittle particular creation of the mousse was very lightly scented. It did not carry too much of the durian fragrance and neither d
id it compromise on the thickness of the durian in the mousse itself as well. Tastefully sweetened, it was a refreshing end to the meal. Combination wise, the durian mousse gives a clear taste towards the hearty courses of meat.


Being a restaurant that is well catered to families, and young adults alike, Vittles serves free freshly popped caramelized popcorn with any dish ordered. Grab these fast as somehow after each batch is created, they mysteriously disappear.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Vittles. Being both affordable and delicious in menu, it was an enticing experience that would leave me recommending it to friends. Now it is time to Vittle away and wait for my next adventure =)
