Alkaff Mansion Teases Wednesdays and Thursdays With An Italian BBQ Buffet Night!

IMG_0235

Alkaff Mansion Ristorante has a new Italian BBQ Buffet concept come every Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The Italian BBQ nights feature unlimited servings of meat and seafood items fresh off the grill from 6pm onwards. Set in the open terrace and under the night sky, the BBQ is a decent option to those who want an intimate place to be at. Now, if only the meats could be a little more exciting and with a deeper set of flavour, this could be a great place to dine the night away.

Admittedly, the terrace really is a sight to behold. While I can imagine a courtyard where receptions can be held, the charm from the outdoor set up impresses one ready for a dinner to come.

Hailing from Sardinia, Italy, Chef Depalmas has over 20 years experience in the culinary field. His cooking philosophy goes by the general rules of simplicity, where cooking techniques are emphasized to bring out each ingredient’s unique flavour.

On a whole, Alkaff’s Italian BBQ is great for those who love to indulge in meats. While the flavours are generally good, a lot of it centres on the produce’s natural tastes and textures standing out. Maybe I’m a little too used to barbecued ingredients which are well seasoned, so the line up at this BBQ was only decent for me. If meats are your cup of tea, go for the grilled lamb rack which were tender and quite flavourful because of its slight robust gamey flavour. The pork belly pieces were a little dry, but spruce it up with a little lemon juice and it gets a touch better. It would have been great if there were still a side of sauce by the side to complement the meats.

I do have to give credit for the fresh seafood used in the buffet line up. The prawns, squid, octopus and fish were excellent in their own right. Light seasoning was used, allowing the barbecue’s smokiness to filter into the meats and bringing out a unique dimension of sea sweetness where possible. Go for their prawns and octopus, I loved their flavour and texture when toned up with a little lemon juice.

For the ambiance and exclusive setting, I have to recommend that couples and those wanting a little more privacy choose Alkaff Mansion Ristorante as the place to be at. The Italian BBQ served up on Wednesdays and Thursdays are decent, although for its price, a dish or two more could be added onto the menu. Also, it might have been great to have a dessert and drink as part of the menu to round off the meal. I enjoyed the dishes, but still wished that for diners who loved a little more punch and zest in the food, be presented with a side of well crafted sauces and dips that are also in line with Italian BBQ philosophy. A worthy place to be at if you have a special reason to be there.

Thank you Alkaff Mansion Ristorante for the invitation.
