Sakae’s Teppanyaki Foie Gras

The last I blogged about Sakae Teppanyaki, it was for the set menu of Boston Lobsters. This time I’m going for the sets in the menu, and believe me, I was surprised when Sakae offered Foie Gras as a dish for teppanyaki.

In this article, the pictures come from a variety of three sets. Namely, Beef Set (with that oh so Foie Gras), Teppan Sukiyaki Beef Set and the Seafood Set.

Salad drizzled with a thick tomatoish sauce starts off the meal. A little sour and flat to me though.

Lovingly charred cuttlefish (Seafood set) and Garlic Rice (its a must for me to order it with the Teppanyaki).

The real deal I ordered the Beef Set? Its the Foie Gras. The pair was creamy albeit oily from the frying method. A glaze of sweet terriyaki sauce hints lightly with each bite. Very nice, and a bad indulgence.

Tiger Prawns (Seafood Set), a bit garlicky just the way I like it.

Teppanyaki Duck Meat (Teppan Sukiyaki Beef Set) is a little grilled and charred but still juicy. Quite good actually. And I guess that Teppanyaki is strictly teppanyaki when even the Chawanmushi is cooked Teppan style. Stock is filled in a onion shell, later covered and cooked right in front of your eyes. Very interesting.

Sukiyaki Beef (Teppan Sukiyaki Beef Set) is naturally the Teppan method over the traditional Sukiyaki. Not much of a difference in taste though with the broth being naturally sweet.

I was so tempted with the Foie Gras from my Beef Set that I had to order it A La Carte. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends on how you look at it), the pieces were slightly over charred at its edges, rendering a crispy yet a tart bitter texture and taste. Though it would have been better if the quality remained consistent like the ones I had just earlier in the meal.
