Steamed Abalone and Pumpkin Rice dumpling
For this year’s Dragon Boat festival, Li Bai at the Sheraton Towers Singapore will be presenting a selection of four savoury dumplings to savour. Each rice dumpling, designed by Executive Chef Chung Yiu Ming, is crafted to encompass a wholesome Cantonese meal in a single bundle. In addition, two new creations adorn the lineup – the Multigrain rice dumpling with Beef and the Black Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Pig’s Trotter.
The Multi-grain rice beef dumpling is firstly made with beef braised in special touches of Japanese miso, ginger and garlic. Once done, the beef short ribs are packed with Conpoy, Chestnus, Chinese Mushrooms and an assortment of beans into the multi-grain rice. The choice of beans made the entire creation hearty but after a second steam to heat up, the dumpling fell on the slightly mushy side. Still, the beef was good and flavourful and worth a mention.
The next new choice is the Black Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Pig’s Trotter. While I did not get to try this creation, I hear that this aromatic creation is generously stuffed with succulent pork that is specially marinated.
I will still recommend the traditional Steamed Abalone and Pumpkin Rice Dumpling. While the abalone is luxurious touch to the overall creation, I have to give good mention to the scented blend of sweet pumpkin and earthy chestnuts that liven up the taste factor. On top of all these, the traditional rice dumpling variant is also available to order. Each dumpling comes in at $36++ and is enough to serve 2. Orders can be made right up to the 20th of June.
