From my last visit to 10 at Claymore some time back, the spread of delicacies has increased. There are a few more added live stations, and items like the freshly prepared pan-seared steak is exceptionally fabulous.

I’m glad I captured the cooking process in all its glory. Look at that sizzle and the beautiful cut of meat.

The sashimi available was also exceptional and very fresh. The salmon was crisp, well chilled and sweet and the swordfish was a touch buttery with a gentle crunch to the bite. I adored the sashimi and went back for more.

But of course, oysters are the main highlight here and I must say that the spread is substantial. The oysters were deftly shucked by the staff, and the trays were quickly replenished with basket loads each time. But during the course of the dinner (especially in the earlier parts of it), queues quickly formed and do expect to wait in line. But for these delectable oysters, worth it!

My favourite oyster selections for the night were the Canadian and the Australians. The Canadian Fanny Bay Pacific oysters were meaty and sweet with a robust, creamy texture; the Australian (not New Zealand this night) oysters were savoury and hearty and also with a creamy, fulfilling texture. These went well on its own, squeezed with some lemon juice or a little Tabasco sauce. The US Pacific Oysters oysters were meaty but a bit thinner in flavour and texture when compared to the Canadian, and the French Normandie oysters were sweet and crisp, bursting with flavour and a lasting alkaline aftertaste. I was, however, indifferent to the Irish Premium oysters as they were sharp and salty with a thin flavour profile.

There is, of course, the Plates of Pleasure prepared a la minute to order on top of the regular spread. I enjoyed the Lamb Chops and the Pork Ribs.

The plate of Foie Gras, however, could have been better executed as it was runny and did not yield at a slice with the knife. The flavours were messy and my portion could do with a better searing.

The rest of the buffet spread was decent and of quality. Though  it is a select lineup, I did enjoy the dishes out on offer.

Desserts galore! Go for the freshly made crepes as well!

The Oyster Occasions buffet promotion at 10 at Claymore is definitely one buffet that I will not want to miss for the months of June and July. I enjoyed the oyster’s freshness, the delicious sashimi and the generally good quality buffet spread. However, as large crowds are expected at the restaurant, this is when the service staff also gets stretched. During my visit it was a full house and on top of the long oyster line, tables were not cleared and orders for the plates of pleasure forgotten. While this is of no fault of the service staff (as they were clearly under pressure), it would be wise for any dinner guest to moderate overall expectations and be patient as everyone tucks in to the delicious food.

Thank you Pan Pacific Orchard for the invitation
